Bluedog supports GIS with aerial remote sensing, replacing conventional aerial photogrammetry with high spatial resolution images (orthophotos) of any accessible area. Costs are manageable because fixed-wing and rotor platforms are reasonable to acquire and operate, and produce better spatial resolution images.

Autonomous Operations

A hallmark of modern UAVs is being capable of flying itself without a human operator. The UAV may be flying itself, but the operator has told it where to go — and hits the start button. The mission does not take place without direct human input. Obstacle avoidance allows the UAV to “see” in front of itself, using real-time machine vision capabilities to identify oncoming obstacles and avoid them.

Remote Sensing

Equipped with digital cameras and powerful sensors, surveys with an accuracy down to 1 to 2 cm are possible. Photogrammetry is the science of making measurements from photographs, and the output of photogrammetry can be a map, a drawing, or a 3D model of real-world object or land mass. UAV Lidar (Light Detection And Ranging) uses a laser scanner on the undercarriage to measure the height of points in the landscape below the UAV.

Terrain Following

Terrain following enables a drone to follow automatically an uneven surface by keeping a certain previously determined height. The drone uses sensors, GPS, and built-in barometer to keep the altitude. When programmed by Bluedog experts, this increases safety.

High Tech Construction

A drone is made from different light composite materials in order to increase maneuverability while flying and to reduce weight so it can stay aloft longer. It can be equipped with a variety of additional equipment, relying on Global Positioning Systems (GPS) for navigation, visible light and IR cameras, additional sensors, and more.

Aerial Mapping

Mapping by acquiring raster data from the sky – in the form of geo-referenced digital aerial images, with resolutions as sharp as 1.5 cm (0.6 in) per pixel – means gathering enough data points in one flight to do accurate land surveying. This technique determines the terrestrial or three-dimensional position of points and the distances and angles between them.

UAV flights provide eyes that can reach and hover above specific sites Equipped with sensors, drones can measure, transmit and store data – quickly! We can upload data to Bluedog’s portal for near-real time evaluation. Data can be used to produce or update topographic and hydrographic maps, volumetric calculations for stockpiles, and flood insurance maps, among other overhead perspective and 360° panoramas. Data can be integrated into GIS (or other systems) for further processing. Drones present no safety risk for the operator and eliminates risks to ground and air personnel. UAVs improved accountability, saved investor money, do not disrupt construction operations
